2023 Chevrolet Suburban Overview

If you want a full-size SUV that can seat up to nine and haul more than 144 cubic feet of cargo while also being loaded with the latest amenities and technologies, then look no further than the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban that is now available to lease and purchase at Brad Deery Motors. The new Suburban continues the current 12th generation and arrives with new options, including the Super Cruise tech that allows for a hands-free driving experience on the highway. Chevrolet offers the Suburban in six trim levels: base LS, up-level LT, sport-oriented RST, off-road-oriented Z71, luxury-oriented Premier and top-spec High Country. In this review, we’ll compare the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban vs 2023 Nissan Armada. The Armada is Nissan’s larger alternative to the very popular 2023 Nissan Pathfinder, and Nissan offers it in four core trim levels: base S, up-level SV, luxury-oriented SL and premium Platinum.

Perhaps the most notable difference when comparing the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban and the 2023 Nissan Armada is that the Suburban is simply a larger vehicle and among the biggest in the class. The wheelbase is 134.1 inches, and the overall length is 225.7 inches—almost 19 feet. The Armada, on the other hand, has a 121.1-inch wheelbase and a 208.7-inch length, which is almost 1.5 feet less. Drivers who prefer that smaller size should also consider the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe is simply a smaller version of the Suburban with a 121.1-inch wheelbase and 208.9-inch length. At this size, it’s still markedly bigger than the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder: 114.2-inch wheelbase and 197.7-inch length.

The base seating configuration for the Suburban is eight passengers in a 2-3-3 arrangement. With the base LS trim level, Brad Deery Motors gives you the option of a front bench seat. That increases seating to nine, which is best in class. Beyond the base model, you also have the option of second-row bucket seats, which reduce seating to seven and are standard with the top trim levels. The Armada is an eight-passenger vehicle, and second-row bucket seats are optional with the SL and Platinum. The larger size of the Suburban pays big dividends when it comes to interior spaciousness. Front headroom is more spacious by more than an inch and front legroom by almost 3 inches. Second-row legroom is bigger by an inch. Third-row legroom is more spacious by 8 inches. The third-row seating in the Armada really isn’t a practical option for adult passengers. The Chevrolet Suburban also provides you more than 41 cubic feet of dedicated cargo space, which is more than double what the Armada gives you.

Chevrolet Suburban Mechanical specs

All 2023 Nissan Armada models are powered by a V8 mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive is available with all trim levels. Trailering equipment is also available, and that upgrade allows you to tow more than 8,000 pounds. Chevrolet also opts for a base V8 but pairs it with a more sophisticated 10-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is optional with all trim levels, and the available trailering upgrade allows for towing more than 8,000 pounds as well. What really stands out in the comparison is fuel performance. The Suburban is impressive and among best in class, and the Armada performance is at the other end of the spectrum. Note that Chevrolet also offers a more powerful V8 and a turbo-diesel engine, but we won’t spend much time on them as Nissan does not offer an equivalent.

Chevrolet gives you the option of either an 8-inch or a 10.1-inch infotainment touch screen. A rearview camera and wireless Android and Apple integration are standard. Advanced Google integration is standard with the larger screen. Nissan opts for a 12.3-inch display with all models. Features are similar, but Google integration is not available. Standard and optional driver assists are comparable across the models, but Chevrolet does offer some features that you won’t find on the Armada, such as Super Cruise and a head-up display.
